Summer job in software and data – Gothenburg office

Zenseact
Gothenburg, Västra Götaland County, Sweden
Internship
AI tools:
Python

Build software that saves lives

At Zenseact, you won’t just practice coding or analyse data in isolation. You’ll be part of building real software that helps prevent accidents and makes roads safer – for millions of people.

Our 12-week summer job gives you hands-on experience in autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems, while learning from experienced engineers, researchers, and mentors who care about both technology and people.

Whether you’re into software development, AI, data, systems, or visualization, there’s room here for your curiosity, creativity, and perspective. Our Gothenburg office is Zenseact’s main hub, located at Lindholmen Science Park. Here, around 500 Zenseactians work across eight floors – all focused on different parts of autonomous driving and product development.

This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you’ll be surrounded by experts from many disciplines, working closely together under one roof. If you’re curious, social, and want to experience the full breadth of Zenseact, this is the place to be.

This isn’t an observer internship

You’ll work in real teams, on real problems, contributing to Zenseact’s core technology. Your work matters, your questions matter, and your ideas are welcome.

Previous Interns Often Tell Us The Same Thing

“I felt trusted.”

“I actually learned things that matter.”

“I wasn’t just ‘the intern’.”

We typically welcome 10–25 students each summer, and many continue their journey with us through extra hours, thesis projects or full-time roles after their studies.

What You Might Work On

Depending on your background and interests, you could for example:

* Work with C++ or Python on real vehicle software

* Analyze and improve real-world driving data

* Build dashboards and visual tools to make complex data understandable

* Support testing and validation of advanced driver-assistance features

* Explore AI, perception, or system-level challenges in autonomous driving

You’ll be matched to a project that fits you – not forced into a one-size-fits-all role.

Support, safety & belonging from day one

We know that new jobs can feel intimidating. That’s why we focus heavily on psychological safety, structure, and support.

You’ll Get

* A dedicated mentor

* A thoughtful onboarding experience

* Regular check-ins and guidance

* A team that expects you to learn – not already know everything

Here, asking questions is a strength.

Life at Zenseact

You’ll be based in Gothenburg, working in modern offices with:

* Flexible work setup

* Great coffee (from our machines or from Alkemisten in the same building 👀)

* Terrace with a view, creative spaces, and social activities

* A culture where people talk and learn from each other

We believe great technology is built by people who feel safe, included, and respected.

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to know everything. We’re looking for students who:

* Have at least one year left in your studies

* Study Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data/IT, or similar

* Have experience or a strong interest in C++, Python, or Matlab/Simulink

* Are curious, thoughtful, and open to learning

* Want to work on technology with real-world impact

* Live in Gothenburg

We welcome applicants of all genders, backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Diverse perspectives make safer systems.

How To Apply

Apply as soon as possible, we review applications continuously.

Please Include

* Your CV

* A short cover letter about your skills, interests, and what you want to learn

* There are three job ads, one each for Gothenburg, Lund, and Munich. You need to live in the area you apply to, to be eligible for a review.

If you graduate summer 2026, check out our full-time roles instead. This role is for students only.

This role may have access to sensitive information, trade secrets, and confidential data. As part of the recruitment process, the selected candidate might undergo a background check.

More About Zenseact

Our software makes a difference.

Using AI-based technology to create the ultimate driver support, we’re fighting to end car accidents and make roads safe for everyone. Every year, around 1,4 million people die in traffic while approximately 50 million people get injured. Many get disabled as a result of their injury. We can do better.

One purpose, one product.

We’re a software company dedicated to revolutionizing car safety. By designing the complete software stack for autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems, we’re fighting to end car accidents and make roads safe for everyone. Zenseact was founded by Volvo Cars, and the teams are based in Gothenburg and Lund, Sweden, Munich in Germany and Shanghai, China. When we aim for zero accidents faster, we strive to speed up the transition to safe automation. This is essentially achieved by making cars updatable – like a computer or a phone. With regular software updates, a vehicle can be made safer long after its production. By accelerating improvement loops, shortening development cycles, and deploying high-capacity software quickly, we can make cars safer, and faster.

Culture with people at heart

To achieve our mission of saving lives and ending traffic accidents we must go where nobody has before. It requires us to venture into the unknown, pioneering new technology and pushing the frontier of autonomous driving. While there’s no denying our determination and expertise, we must stand united to succeed. By fostering a culture of support and enablement – a place of psychological safety where all of us can thrive – everything else will follow. We call this a people-at-heart culture. This culture means caring. It means the company cares about me, and we care about one another. It means sharing, so we give each other energy and have fun together. Our culture is also about belonging. It’s important to feel at home and that we can be ourselves at work. Finally, a people-at-heart culture means well-being. So, we enjoy the flexibility needed to be and do our best – at work and in life.

Zenseact works proactively to create a culture of diversity and inclusion, where individual differences are appreciated and respected. To drive innovation we see diversity as an asset, which means we value and respect differences in gender, race, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation or age, etc.

Interviews are held continuously, so we highly recommend that you submit your application at your earliest convenience.
