Summary
What You’ll Do
* Strategic Technical Leadership: Lead the end-to-end AI/ML lifecycle—from strategic
data sourcing and preparation to the architecture, training, and deployment of high-scale
models in our cloud environments.
* Architectural Vision: Define and drive the AI architecture that supports complex
product requirements. You will ensure our AI systems are scalable, maintainable, and
seamlessly integrated into the broader Guidewire ecosystem.
* Rapid Prototyping & Validation: Design and oversee the creation of high-fidelity AI
prototypes to explore "art of the possible" solutions, working closely with stakeholders to
validate the quality, safety, and business relevance of results.
* Optimization & Rigor: Set the standard for model tuning, evaluation frameworks, and
algorithmic performance to ensure our solutions are robust and production-ready.
* Engineering Collaboration: Partner with core engineering teams to build the
infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines (MLOps) required to integrate models into our product
architecture at scale.
* Applied Research: Act as a subject matter expert by conducting deep research into
emerging AI technologies (Generative AI, Agentic workflows, etc.) and translating these
trends into actionable product advantages.
* Mentorship & Excellence: Elevate the engineering organization by mentoring senior
and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical curiosity, and advocating for
operational excellence and responsible AI.
Requirements
Job Description
* Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering and
implementing ML/AI technologies at scale.
* Modern AI Mastery: Deep expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP), with a proven track record of building and deploying LLM-based applications, RAG
architectures, and vector databases.
* Full-Stack ML Lifecycle: Demonstrated experience taking AI models from experimental notebooks to high-availability production environments, ideally within highly regulated industries like insurance or finance.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced programming skills in Python; deep familiarity with modern AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, LangChain, LlamaIndex) and data processing libraries.
* Cloud Native: Strong experience with cloud-scale infrastructure, preferably AWS, and a solid understanding of MLOps best practices.
* Problem Solving: A creative builder mindset, comfortable navigating the ambiguity of greenfield projects and evolving technologies.
* Communication: Exceptional ability to synthesize complex technical concepts for executive stakeholders while maintaining deep technical credibility with engineering teams.
* Collaboration: A highly collaborative approach to cross-functional work, with the ability to influence without formal authority and execute against a long-term product vision.
The Canadian CAD base salary range for this full-time position is - . Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.
