The Team

You will be joining the Energy Analytics Team as a QA Automation Engineer, responsible for quality assurance across our commercial, customer-facing web application and the backend platform and processes that support it. R360 is our e-commerce site that allows customers to search, purchase, and download Well Log data directly to their desktop. This provides access to Well log data, Log type, Coverage, quality, and Header info, along with any scanned publicly available agency documents. This allows searches to be performed by Geographic area, Unique Well Identifiers, or map-based polygon and shapefile methods.

Behind R360 is Workshop, the backend platform and set of internal applications that power it, supporting the business processes behind ordering, customer and product administration, entitlement, and data delivery. This QA Automation Engineer will own test coverage across both sides of that picture: the customer-facing web application, the backend services and APIs behind it, the desktop applications used internally, and the underlying SQL Server data layer that drives most of the business logic.

Performance Objectives

• Write reusable, maintainable, and efficient code for automation tests.

• Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open-source tools.

• Provide feedback on which test cases should be automated.

• Help set the standards for their team.

• Identify and suggest areas of improvement for themselves or their teams.

• Work within an existing AI Test Automation framework.

• Go-to person on the team when dealing with problems.

• Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet customer needs.

• Assist in triage of issues.

• Work with the team to help solve problems discovered in the QA process.

• Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test coverage across the backend platform’s business processes, in addition to web and API testing.

• Validate business logic directly against SQL Server — writing queries, reading stored procedure output, and confirming data outcomes — since much of that logic lives in the data layer rather than a user interface.

• Test both the commercial-facing APIs that expose parts of the backend platform (e.g., the Data Lake) and the internal services and interfaces that make up the rest of it.

• Perform cross-application regression testing to ensure consistent behavior across the web application and the backend platform.

• Assist with testing and validating SSRS reports used across the platform as needed.

Competitive Candidate Profile

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of QA/testing experience in software quality assurance automation.

• Ability to communicate well and be capable of delivering feedback to managers and peers.

• Extensive experience with testing modern applications/data.

• Experience in testing web applications.

• Familiarity with operating within an automation test framework.

• Experience with CI/CD methodologies.

• Experience with Performance and/or Security testing is a plus.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong SQL Server skills are required — comfortable writing and troubleshooting queries and stored procedures to validate business logic directly in the database. Enverus is a data company, and most of what this role tests lives in SQL Server, not just the UI.

• Experience testing Windows desktop applications, in addition to web applications.

• Experience testing REST/JSON APIs directly (e.g., via Postman or similar tooling), not only through UI automation.

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus — this role may assist with report testing and validation.
