About Journify Learning

Journify Learning is the evidence-based AI assistant that maximizes the efficiency and effectiveness of special education teams. It saves educators time by automating progress tracking and data integration across all support providers, while driving student outcomes through evidence-based practices such as High-Leverage Practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Today, Journify supports educators across 15+ U.S. states and is growing rapidly, empowering teachers, school leaders, and districts to personalize learning and strengthen compliance - all in one intuitive, intelligent platform.

Backed by leading edtech investors including Reach Capital and NewSchools Venture Fund, Journify has raised $3.7M to scale its mission. We've been recognized by Digital Promise for Responsible AI, named a winner of the Tools Competition (the world's largest edtech competition), and most recently selected for the ASU GSV Cup 50 as the winner of the K-12 track, out of 3,000+ global companies. Journify is leading the movement to bring ethical, evidence-based AI into classrooms and transform how special education teams work and collaborate.

If you're energized by building the data backbone that powers AI in schools, this is the place to make a difference.

The Role

We're looking for an intern who is excited about building AI-powered experiences that make complex data useful and accessible to educators. Special education generates a rich trail of assessments, session notes, and progress records. There's enormous potential to use LLMs to help teachers see patterns, surface insights, and make better-informed decisions from that data.

You'll explore what's possible at the intersection of LLM application design, data retrieval, and thoughtful UI. You'll work directly with the founding engineering team on a daily basis, contributing to architecture decisions, prompt engineering, and building production-quality features in our React and Python stack.

What We're Looking For

* Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

* Strong interest in applied AI and large language models - not just calling APIs, but thinking critically about context management, retrieval strategies, grounding, and evaluation

* Comfort with (or eagerness to learn) React and Python

* Experience building AI-powered projects - whether in coursework, hackathons, research, or personal projects

* Systems-level thinking: you consider how data flows end to end and what happens when things go wrong

What You'll Get

* Meaningful ownership of a production feature used by educators nationwide

* Direct mentorship from the founding team (ex-Microsoft, Atlassian, Intuit)

* Exposure to the full breadth of an early-stage startup, from product decisions to technical architecture

* The chance to build something that directly improves outcomes for students with IEPs

Logistics

* Duration: Summer 2026 (10–12 weeks)

* Location: Remote (US/Canada)

* Hours: Fulltime

To Apply

* Reach out via email to [email protected] by May 15 with your resume and links to projects (e.g. GitHub).
