Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Devies Digital Core
Gothenburg, Västra Götaland County, Sweden
Full-time
AI tools:
Python

The consulting market is broken. More often than not, manpower and clocked hours are favoured over results and lasting value. At Devies Digital Core (DDC) and as part of the Devies group, we are redefining what it means to be a consultant; one action at a time. DDC excels at project and team deliveries, and  emphasises ownership, value creation and domain expertise to drive end-to-end software deliveries and advisory services focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and data. We work closely with our clients on strategic and operative levels, ensuring that our deliverables translate into business value.

Our main office is located in central Gothenburg and that’s where you will play a key role in shaping our journey forward. Our teams are small (1–4 members), and experienced colleagues frequently contribute to multiple projects in parallel. Every employee has their own desk and equipment tailored to their needs. While the office is our common base, we offer a hybrid  working model to ensure you get the flexibility you need to deliver the highest value, consistently.

We foster a supportive and inclusive culture where everyone is encouraged to actively contribute — both to our technical excellence and to our work environment. Growth is a cornerstone for us, supported by a company-wide coaching program, certifications and lightning talks.

Come as you are! We welcome diversity and value the unique backgrounds and experiences each person brings.

The role

We are looking for a Medior/Senior ML Engineer to strengthen our presence in Göteborg. The candidate should have solid experience in developing models built on modern Neural Network (NN) architectures and applying ML Ops practices to deliver scalable and reliable production systems.

The right candidate has a strong foundation in ML and experience taking projects from concept through to deployment in production environments. You will play a pivotal role in shaping culture and operative work, and you will be expected to contribute to the non-technical parts of the business.

What you’ll work with

* Designing, training, evaluating, and integrating ML models.

*

* Full-cycle ML development: from ideation to prototyping, scaling, and deployment in production systems.

*

* Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure business value is always at the center.

*

* Taking ownership of projects and contributing to discussions on architectures, methods, and new tools.

*

* Lead by example: coach and support other teams within DDC and ensure the net delivery level

What we’re looking for

* Master’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.

*

* 3+ years of hands-on ML project experience.

*

* Proficiency in Python, SQL, Docker and VCS, and willingness to actively learn and/or integrate solutions in codebases written in other languages, e.g. Go, C#, Rust, Scala.

*

* Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices.

*

* Technical proficiency in prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, and model optimization and fine-tuning.

*

* Experience with Natural language Processing (NLP), computer vision, Large Language Models (LLMs), and generative AI including current architectures and libraries is highly merited.

*

* Commitment to ethical AI practices, with attention to data security, bias, societal impact and current legislation and regulations including GDPR and the European AI Act.

Who you are

* You keep focus on business value without getting lost in second-order details.

*

* You’re comfortable balancing and navigating multiple initiatives in parallel.

*

* You are a strong communicator and proficient in English and Swedish, with experience working with stakeholders, taking ownership of projects, and contributing actively to discussions.

*

* You are curious and engaged with the broader data science community.

*

* You actively contribute - whether it’s dissecting research papers, discussing architectures, or evaluating new tooling.
