Domain: Digital Health & Wellness; Pharmacy & Healthcare Consumer Experience; HIPAA-compliant Conversational AI
Overview and Business Problem
Healthcare organizations face increasing challenges in extending digital and conversational platforms into the health and wellness domain while ensuring strict compliance with data privacy regulations and clinical safety requirements. Traditional systems are not designed to handle sensitive health data (PHI), risk-aware decisioning, and regulated pharmacy interactions within AI-driven user experiences. There is a critical need to build intelligent, HIPAA-compliant systems that can safely manage health-related queries, enable compliant commerce, and provide audit-ready, traceable interactions at scale.
About the Role
Design and scale a HIPAA-compliant, AI-driven health and wellness conversational platform to deliver safe, compliant, and seamless user experiences. Lead the development of intelligent workflows for query classification, PHI-aware routing, medical risk assessment, and AI-assisted advisory and commerce orchestration, with human-in-the-loop controls and full auditability.
Key Responsibilities
* Platform & Workflow Design: Design end-to-end health & wellness conversational workflows across intake → classification → routing → response → commerce handoff
* Intent Classification & Routing: Implement real-time classification of healthcare vs non-health queries and route to appropriate agents.
* PHI Handling & HIPAA Compliance: Enable PHI detection, HIPAA zoning, and secure session management with role-based access controls.
* Medical Risk Assessment & Safety Controls: Develop symptom severity and medical risk classification frameworks to ensure safe and compliant responses
* AI-powered Advisory & RAG: Design retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using trusted medical knowledge sources for grounded responses.
* Pharmacy & Commerce Integration (OTC & Rx): Orchestrate compliant OTC and prescription workflows with controlled handoff to commerce systems
* Data Governance & Multi-Party Integration: Design secure data exchange across systems (platform, APIs, external data providers) ensuring strict data boundaries.
* Auditability & Traceability: Ensure end-to-end logging, provenance, and audit-ready traceability of all interactions and decisions
* AI Governance & Human-in-the-Loop (HITL): Define oversight mechanisms, escalation paths, and HITL controls for high-risk or sensitive scenarios
* Delivery & Stakeholder Management: Lead implementation, integration, and rollout; collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams
Must-Have Qualifications
* Strong understanding of healthcare workflows including pharmacy (OTC & Rx), digital health, and wellness interactions
* Demonstrated experience with HIPAA Privacy & Security principles, PHI handling, audit readiness, and data governance
* Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions across cloud, APIs, data platforms, and interoperability.
* Exposure to Azure, SQL
* Strong communication and ability to work with product, engineering, clinical, and compliance teams
