Job Tile - Senior Business Data Analyst 

Location - Toronto, ON M5E 1G4 (Hybrid) 

Job Type - Full-Time  

Salary - CAD 120K to CAD 130K Per annum

About the Role 

* Client is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst to join its Digital Product & Strategy team. This role will support enterprise-wide data automation, reporting, and data management initiatives following the implementation of Charles River Investment Management System. 

* This is a highly business-facing role requiring strong knowledge of the asset management industry, especially front-office trading workflows, while also bringing hands-on data analysis capability. 

* The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business users and technology teams, working closely with Investment Management, Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders. 

* Ideal Candidate Profile is not a pure Data Analyst and not a purely functional Business Analyst. This person should be a business-data hybrid with strong asset management knowledge, especially within front-office investment and trading environments. 

* They should understand how data flows through investment systems, how front-office users consume and rely on data, and how to translate business needs into clear technical requirements. 

 Key Responsibilities 

* Act as the main point of contact for assigned data and reporting projects. 

* Partner with front-office, middle-office, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements. 

* Support data automation, reporting, and data management initiatives across the organization. 

* Work closely with stakeholders to understand workflows, current-state processes, gaps, and future-state needs. 

* Document requirements through BRDs, PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, process maps, and use cases. 

* Analyze complex data from multiple systems and present findings in clear, concise reports. 

* Support Charles River-related workflows and broader investment data initiatives. 

* Collaborate with data engineering, technology, and product teams to deliver solutions through the Agile lifecycle. 

* Help maintain product/data roadmaps based on evolving business needs. 

* Support data quality, data sourcing, reporting, and operational efficiency initiatives. 

  Must-Haves 

* Strong experience in asset management, investment management, capital markets, or wealth management. 

* Direct exposure to front-office trading lifecycle / trading workflows. 

* Experience working with investment, trading, portfolio, compliance, or order management systems. 

* Strong business analysis experience, including requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management. 

* Strong SQL skills, including querying and analyzing complex datasets. 

* Hands-on data analysis experience. 

* Ability to work with both business and technical teams. 

* Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience; ideally 8-10+ years for stronger industry depth. 

 Nice-to-Haves 

* Charles River IMS experience. 

* Experience with other OMS / investment platforms such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, SimCorp, Broadridge, or similar systems. 

* Snowflake experience. 

* Azure or cloud data environment experience. 

* Python scripting experience, ideally intermediate level. 

* Power BI, Tableau, or other BI/reporting tools. 

* Consulting background within asset management or financial services. 

 Technical Skills 

* SQL — strong required 

* Python — intermediate preferred 

* Power BI / Tableau — preferred 

* Snowflake — nice to have 

* Azure / cloud environments — nice to have 

* Data management and data analysis 

* Requirements documentation: BRDs, PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria 

* Agile delivery experience
