Position: Field Engineer
Type: Hourly contract
Location: San Francisco Area (Field-Based)
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
* Conduct field and lab testing of wearable hardware devices across varied environments such as factories, kitchens, and warehouses.
* Perform stress testing under different operational conditions including speed, temperature, humidity, dust, and lighting.
* Troubleshoot issues related to data capture, connectivity, battery life, ergonomics, and software stability during live deployments.
* Collect structured feedback from field users on device comfort, usability, and long-term wearability.
* Create detailed technical reports documenting system performance, bugs, and improvement opportunities.
* Validate new hardware modifications and software features before broader operational deployment.
* Design and optimize standard operating procedures (SOPs) for device charging, syncing, and large-scale deployment.
* Monitor incoming data streams to ensure data quality and identify root causes of system failures.
* Develop training materials and train non-technical operators on hardware usage and maintenance.
Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
* Strong familiarity with hardware systems, embedded platforms (Linux/Android), cameras, or IMU sensors.
* Experience troubleshooting hardware/software integration issues in real-world environments.
* Analytical problem-solving skills to diagnose issues across hardware, software, and operational workflows.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for global team collaboration.
* Strong years of experience in field engineering, hardware testing, or robotics operations.
* Comfortable working in dynamic field environments and traveling locally within the San Francisco area.
