Robotics/Automation Engineer

Supero
Bari, Apulia, Italy
Full-time

At Supero, we are redefining how robots interact with materials and people. We develop cutting-edge AI-powered collaborative robotic systems for surface finishing and advanced manufacturing applications.

Supero is seeking a Robotics and Automation Engineer to support the development and deployment of our innovative products. In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of physical AI-driven robotics automation solutions, working closely with the leadership team. Depending on your level of experience, the position may be offered as an internship or as a direct employment opportunity.

Where you will be involved

* Design, implement and deploy robotic solutions, with particular focus on surface finishing robot workstations.

* Study, select and integrate system components such as surface finishing systems, external axes, vision systems, tailored to specific applications.

* Perform feasibility analysis and define technical specifications and functional requirements of robotic automation systems.

* Work closely with the customer to understand the manufacturing process by observing operations, taking measurements, reviewing CAD files, and documenting machinery.

* Drafting detailed technical specifications, align vendors on requirements, and support technical and cost evaluations.

* Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve the customer experience and system performances.

* Support in defining the long-term automation and robotics roadmap with a strategic perspective.

Who we are looking for

* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering or a related field.

* Excellent knowledge of the Italian language (C1 level or equivalent), both written and spoken, required for interactions with clients and internal teams.

* Good knowledge of industrial and collaborative robot manipulators (e.g., UR, KUKA, ABB, etc.), also gained through academic projects or internships.

* Knowledge of software and tools which are generally used in industrial automation and control systems as PLC, software development (Python, C, C++), robotic simulation environments (e.g. RoboDK).

* Interest in the design, development and deployment of robotic systems, with hands-on experience from university projects, labs or previous working experience.

* Knowledge regarding the main operations concerning the integration of robotic automation systems (feasibility analyses, technical specifications and functional requirements).

* Knowledge of main industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP).

* Knowledge of robotics fundamentals (kinematics, path planning, collision avoidance, control theory).

* Strong problem-solving and practical skills, and ability to work in a team.

Nice to have

* Familiarity with safety design of robotic cells, including risk assessment, safety PLC configuration (e.g., Siemens S7-1500F with TIA Portal, Bechkoff PLC, Rockwell GuardLogix), programming in IEC 61131-3 languages (Structured Text, Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram), design of emergency stop circuits, and compliance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ISO 10218, and ISO/TS 15066 collaborative robot safety standards.

* Familiarity with surface finishing processes (sanding, grinding, polishing, deburring) and force-controlled robot applications.

* Strong interest in Physical AI, with particular focus on perception-driven surface finishing operations, contact-rich tasks, force/torque sensing, compliance, and adaptive control for real-world surface processing.

What you will find

* Collaborative Culture: you will be working alongside brilliant and motivated people, where knowledge sharing, mutual support, and high standards are at the core of our work.

* Immediate Impact: the solutions you design will be implemented directly in industrial environments, delivering measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

* Professional Growth: as part of a rapidly scaling startup, you will assume significant responsibility from the outset, with clear opportunities to progress into technical leadership and strategic roles.

* Agile Environment: a dynamic and flexible workplace, combining the speed of a startup with a strong focus on excellence and structured execution.

Job type
