Remote | Experienced Generalist Writer — $45/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced writers with strong backgrounds in journalism, education, content marketing, non-fiction writing, communications, or related writing-intensive fields.

This role supports an exciting collaboration with a leading AI research laboratory focused on improving advanced AI systems through high-quality, human-written training data across a wide range of real-world writing tasks.

Selected professionals will write realistic prompts and polished responses across multiple content formats, helping train AI models to produce writing that feels more natural, more human, and more aligned with the craft, tone, and conventions of each format.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Prompt Writing & Content Development

Write realistic prompts that reflect how professionals and everyday users request written content across a broad range of categories

Develop prompt-response pairs across communication, essays, concepts, journalism, business, academic, and product or marketing formats

Produce writing tasks that mirror real-world use cases and audience expectations

Writing Quality, Tone & Versatility

Craft polished, high-quality responses that demonstrate strong writing across tone, structure, clarity, accuracy, and audience-awareness

Adapt voice and style to match the context, from casual short-form communication to formal business or editorial writing

Apply strong judgment around tone, structure, and writing conventions across different formats and levels of formality

AI Collaboration & Human-Written Content Standards

Support AI model improvement by contributing fully human-written training examples

Help shape writing outputs that are more natural, context-aware, and aligned with user intent

Ensure all content is original and human-written, as LLM-generated content is strictly prohibited

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

Professional experience in journalism, education, content marketing, non-fiction writing, communications, or a related field

A strong portfolio or track record of published writing, editorial work, curriculum development, or content strategy

Range and versatility across multiple writing formats, audiences, and levels of formality

Sharp instincts for tone, structure, clarity, and audience fit

Strong attention to detail and a high personal bar for quality

Preferred Qualifications

Experience writing across both editorial and business communication formats

Ability to produce strong work across structured, explanatory, persuasive, and conversational writing styles

Familiarity with adapting writing to different audiences, purposes, and communication contexts

Contract Details

Independent contractor role

Fully remote with flexible scheduling

Hourly compensation of $45 per hour

Expected commitment of approximately 20 hours per week

All writing will be completed in English

Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance

Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
