About CaseCraft AI
CaseCraft AI is an early-stage startup building a lead-quality optimization platform for contingency attorneys. We convert plain-language descriptions of legal situations into structured, attorney-ready case profiles, then intelligently match them with the right lawyer based on outcome-weighted compatibility.
Our initial focus is solo personal injury attorneys handling car accident cases—the highest-volume, fastest-feedback segment of the legal referral market. We are not building another legal marketplace. We are redefining how attorneys evaluate and acquire cases by delivering decision-ready referrals that eliminate wasted intake time.
Role Overview
As the Principal Engineer at CaseCraft AI, you will be the technical co-builder of the company. This is not a role where you inherit a codebase and maintain it—you will architect and build the core platform from the ground up alongside the founder. You will own every layer of the technical stack: from the intake pipeline that converts consumer narratives into structured case profiles, to the scoring engine that evaluates lead quality, to the matching algorithm that pairs cases with attorneys based on outcome-weighted criteria.
This is a founding-level engineering role with the autonomy, ownership, and upside that comes with it.
What You Will Build
* Case Intake Pipeline — An NLP-driven system that converts plain-language consumer narratives into structured, attorney-ready case profiles with extracted fields such as injury severity, liability clarity, insurance presence, and estimated settlement range.
* Lead Scoring Engine — A configurable scoring model built from attorney interview data that evaluates incoming leads against minimum settlement size, liability clarity, injury severity, and insurance coverage thresholds.
* Attorney Matching Algorithm — An outcome-weighted matching system that routes qualified case profiles to attorneys based on their practice area, case preferences, geographic coverage, and historical conversion patterns.
* Attorney-Facing Dashboard — A clean, functional interface where attorneys receive, review, and act on pre-qualified case profiles with full transparency into the scoring rationale.
* Data Infrastructure — The backend systems for ingestion, storage, analytics, and feedback loops that enable continuous improvement of case scoring accuracy over time.
* API and Integration Layer — Extensible APIs that support future integrations with attorney CRMs, intake software, and marketing platforms.
QualificationsRequired
* 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or staff-level role owning architecture decisions.
* Deep proficiency in full-stack development (Python or Node.js backend; React or similar frontend framework).
* Hands-on experience with NLP/ML pipelines, including text classification, entity extraction, or structured data generation from unstructured inputs.
* Strong background in designing and deploying production APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
* Experience building scoring or ranking systems, recommendation engines, or lead qualification tools.
* Comfort operating in a pre-product, zero-to-one environment where speed, pragmatism, and iteration velocity matter more than process.
* Clear, direct communication style—able to translate technical tradeoffs into business decisions with a non-technical founder.
Preferred
* Experience in legal tech, insurance tech, or lead generation platforms.
* Familiarity with legal data structures (case types, jurisdiction rules, statute of limitations logic).
* Prior founding or early-stage startup experience (Seed / Series A).
* Experience building and shipping an MVP that directly generated revenue or validated a market hypothesis.
Why This Role Matters
No competitor in the legal referral space converts plain-language consumer stories into structured, scored, decision-ready case profiles. No competitor does outcome-weighted attorney matching. The moat is in the quality of what the attorney receives when the referral lands—and you will build that moat.
This is the kind of role where your technical decisions directly shape the product, the company trajectory, and ultimately whether attorneys say the five words that matter most: “Send me more of these.”
What We Offer
* Meaningful founding-level equity in a company attacking a validated, high-frequency pain point (Pain-Point Score: 8/10).
* Full technical autonomy—you choose the stack, set the architecture, and own the roadmap.
* Direct partnership with the founder on product strategy, go-to-market, and customer discovery.
* A lean, focused operation with a budget discipline that forces creative problem-solving and high-leverage decisions.
* Remote-first flexibility with async-friendly workflows.
How to Apply
Send a brief note and your background to the founder directly. We value signal over polish—tell us what you have built, what you learned, and why a zero-to-one legal tech challenge interests you.
