Platform & IT Engineer

Employment Type: Full-Time (FTE) Remote / Hybrid

About the Role

We are hiring a full-time Platform & IT Engineer to join our growing team. At our stage, the Platform team is responsible for both our production cloud infrastructure and the internal IT systems that keep our company running. This role is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career to build a deep foundation in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and DevOps automation while ensuring our internal operations are seamless and secure.

You will work closely with the Platform Lead and senior engineers to support our production systems and internal tools. We are looking for someone with high curiosity and a "no task is too small" mindset who is eager to grow into a fully independent Platform Engineer.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Support

* Assist with Cloud Ops: Support the maintenance of our GCP environment, including virtual machines, storage, and networking under senior guidance.

* Kubernetes Triage: Help monitor GKE clusters, assist with minor configuration updates, and learn the intricacies of container orchestration.

* IaC Contributions: Help maintain and update Terraform modules, variables, and state files as our infrastructure evolves.

Internal IT & Corporate Operations

* Identity & Access Management: Own the onboarding and offboarding process for employees, managing permissions across GitHub, Slack, Google Workspace, and internal tools.

* Internal Tooling: Support and troubleshoot internal systems (VPNs, developer environments, and SaaS integrations).

* Security & Compliance: Assist in implementing basic security controls on endpoints and ensuring team-wide compliance with our security policies.

CI/CD & Automation

* Pipeline Support: Help manage and troubleshoot GitHub Actions workflows to ensure developers can ship code without friction.

* Operational Scripting: Identify repetitive manual tasks (in IT or Platform) and write scripts (Python or Bash) to automate them.

Monitoring & Reliability

* First-Line Observability: Monitor dashboards (Grafana, Cloud Logging) for alerts and perform initial triaging of system health issues.

* Documentation: Keep our internal wiki, runbooks, and "How-To" guides up to date so the team remains efficient as we scale.

Required Qualifications

* 1–2 years of professional experience in IT Support, Systems Administration, or a Junior DevOps role.

* Foundational Linux Knowledge: Comfortable in a terminal and familiar with basic system administration.

* Cloud Exposure: Basic familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (GCP experience is a major plus).

* Curiosity & Growth Mindset: A strong desire to learn Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD practices.

* Problem-Solving Skills: Able to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and communicate findings clearly.

* Reliability: High attention to detail, especially when managing user permissions and security-sensitive tasks.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

* Experience with Docker and basic container concepts.

* Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).

* Experience supporting a remote-first or startup environment.

* Knowledge of Google Workspace administration and IAM best practices.

What Success Looks Like (First 60–90 Days)

* Operational Competence: You have taken full ownership of the employee onboarding/offboarding process and internal access requests.

* Cloud Literacy: You can independently navigate the GCP console and perform basic troubleshooting on GKE workloads.

* Automation Win: You have identified at least one manual IT or Platform task and successfully automated it with a script or tool.

* Team Integration: You are a reliable first point of contact for internal IT issues, allowing the Platform Lead to focus on high-level architecture.

Why This Role

* Mentorship: Work directly with a Platform Lead who is invested in your technical growth.

* Breadth of Experience: Gain exposure to enterprise-grade tech (Kubernetes, IaC) while learning how a startup operates from the inside out.

Path to Seniority: This role is designed to evolve into a full Platform Engineering position as you master the stack.
