We are a pre-Series A startup building AI agents for CPAs and accounting teams. We have significant traction, revenue, and huge upside potential.

We're looking to hire only the best of the best. You need to be disciplined, hard-working, and willing to sacrifice weekends for our bigger vision: disrupting an entire industry while helping many people along the way. Over the past 18 months building this product, we've become friends who enjoy each other's company, share dark humor, and find disruptive solutions to interesting challenges.

We're building Ava — an AI agent that automates audit workflows. To make Ava world-class, we need someone who has actually done the work. Someone who's been in the weeds of audit engagements for years and can now channel that expertise into building the future of assurance.

This is not a customer success role. You'll be embedded with our product and engineering teams, using your deep audit knowledge to improve our AI, design new audit workflows, customize Ava for different engagement types, and shape what we build next. You'll also work directly with our accounting firm clients to understand their needs and ensure Ava fits seamlessly into how they work.

What you'll do:

* Use your audit expertise to evaluate, test, and improve Ava's AI workflows — you'll know when something is wrong because you've done it yourself hundreds of times

* Design and refine audit procedures, checklists, and logic that power our AI agent across engagement types (EBP, corporate, government, and more)

* Customize and configure Ava for individual client firms — understanding their methodology, risk appetite, and how they run engagements

* Identify gaps in coverage, flag quality issues, and provide detailed, actionable feedback to our engineering team

* Come up with new product ideas — you've lived the pain points, so you know what auditors actually need before they ask for it

* Work directly with our accounting firm clients during onboarding and implementation to ensure Ava is configured correctly and delivering value

* Serve as the internal voice of the auditor — sit in product meetings, challenge assumptions, and keep us honest about what the profession actually needs

* Build audit-specific training materials, documentation, and best practices as we scale

Who you are:

* You have at least 5 years of audit experience at a Big 4 or Top 20 CPA firm. This is non-negotiable - we need someone who has run engagements, reviewed workpapers, and understands audit methodology inside and out.

* You genuinely like helping people — not in a corporate way, in a real way. You're the person friends call when they need something figured out.

* You're tired of doing the same repetitive work and you believe AI can fundamentally change how assurance gets done. You want to be the one who builds that future.

* You're comfortable with technology — you don't need to code, but you pick up new tools fast and enjoy doing it. If you've used CaseWare, TeamMate, Workiva, or similar audit platforms, that's a plus.

* You have strong opinions about how audits should be done and you're not afraid to voice them.

* You communicate clearly and directly — with engineers, with partners at accounting firms, with everyone in between.

* You're organized, detail-obsessed, and can manage multiple workstreams without dropping balls.

* You're in NYC or willing to be. This role is on-site.

* You are okay with working startup hours.

Nice to have:

* CPA certification

* Experience across multiple engagement types (EBP, SOC, financial statement audits, single audits)

* Familiarity with AI tools or a genuine curiosity about how AI is changing the profession

* Startup experience — you're comfortable with ambiguity and building things from scratch

* Experience in audit methodology, quality control, or practice development
