Mechanical Engineering
AlignerrFull Description
Mechanical Engineering — AI Trainer
About The Role
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. If you have deep knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, or mechatronics, this is your opportunity to directly influence how the next generation of AI reasons through complex engineering problems.
Your expertise will be used to challenge, evaluate, and refine AI systems — exposing their blind spots and shaping their technical thinking from the ground up.
* Organization: Alignerr
* Type: Hourly Contract
* Location: Remote
* Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
* Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Craft challenging, domain-spanning problems across FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and fluid mechanics to rigorously test AI performance
* Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop detailed, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
* Audit Technical Reasoning — Review AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.)
* Sharpen AI Thinking — Identify and document reasoning failures such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions, then provide structured feedback to improve model behavior
Who You Are
* Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field (Master's — currently pursuing or completed — or PhD)
* Strong domain knowledge in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
* Clear technical communicator — able to explain complex physical phenomena and mathematical reasoning in precise, well-structured written form
* Detail-oriented — meticulous when working with mathematical derivations, unit conversions, dimensional analysis, and physical constraints
* No prior AI experience required — your engineering knowledge is what matters
Nice to Have
* Experience with data annotation, data quality, or technical evaluation workflows
* Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB
* Exposure to simulation, modeling, or computational engineering methods
