Job Title: Marketplace Quant
Salary: $175K – $250K + competitive equity
Location: San Francisco, CA, on-site | Visa sponsorship available
Company Description: Series A AI marketplace startup, SF, 8x revenue last year, $65M total raised
Job Description: Join one of the fastest-growing marketplace companies in SF at the exact inflection point where quantitative work starts to directly shape platform economics at scale. This company 8x'd revenue last year, just closed a $20M Series A backed by top-tier marketplace investors and operators, and counts some of the most well-known and fastest-scaling companies in tech among its customers. As a Marketplace Quant you will own the pricing and incentive engine for a two-sided marketplace. This is not a build dashboards and wait role. Your quantitative work translates directly into revenue and marketplace behavior in real time.
Why this role is remarkable:
* Own the pricing and incentive engine for a two-sided marketplace at a company that 8x'd revenue last year, backed by some of the most respected marketplace investors and operators in the world, at the exact moment scale starts to create genuinely interesting quantitative problems
* Work alongside sharp operators who move fast and expect the same from you, at a company whose customers include some of the most recognizable and competitive names in tech today
* Strong comp and real equity upside at a company that has raised $65M total, is scaling aggressively, and is still early enough that your work directly shapes how the platform grows
What you will do:
* Design compensation structures, run pricing experiments, and make real-time decisions that move marketplace efficiency, translating quantitative insight into actionable shifts in how supply and demand interact on the platform
* Apply behavioral economics, pricing models, and game theory to a proprietary dataset that captures how both sides of a two-sided marketplace behave at scale, in a category that has barely been quantified before
* Work across business teams and non-technical stakeholders to turn messy workflows into structured analytical frameworks, SOPs, and dashboards that the whole organization can act on
The ideal candidate:
* 4 to 8 years of experience in data, trading, strategy, or analytics at a marketplace business, fast-growing startup, or investment bank/consulting firm, with a degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Economics from a top university and a top GPA
* Strong SQL at minimum with experience in Python or R for statistics, plus hands-on experiment design and analysis across A/B, multivariate, and cohort methodologies, and a track record of extracting pricing or incentive insights that drove real operational change
* Always in go-mode with a bias toward action, process-minded enough to build structure out of ambiguity, and sharp enough to switch fluently between qualitative and quantitative contexts, with at least one thing on your resume that is undeniably exceptional
