Job Title: Manager of AI Data Operations

Location: Salt Lake City, UT (On-site, Remote)

Job Summary: The Manager of AI Data Operations is responsible for the entire lifecycle of data used to train, test, and deploy AI models for sign language recognition and generation. This role ensures data assets are clean, accurate, properly labeled, and compliant, acting as a liaison between data collection teams and the data sources for AI products. Key responsibilities include data pipeline management, overseeing annotation quality, and managing vendor operations, while designing scalable workflows for production AI systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

* Data Pipeline Management: Oversee the end-to-end data pipeline (collection, labeling, annotation, preparation) for AI model training and evaluation.

* Labeling & Annotation Oversight: Lead data annotation and labeling operations, establishing quality standards, guidelines, and benchmarks.

* Data Integrity & Reporting: Design and maintain reports on progress against data collection, labeling, and annotation targets.

* Vendor & Workforce Management: Act as the primary contact for third-party vendors, managing SLAs, quality reviews, and budgets.

* Workflow Optimization: Identify and implement solutions (automation, tooling, process redesign) to improve data process efficiency and reduce errors.

* Data Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for data schemas, annotation taxonomies, pipeline architecture, and quality benchmarks.

* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with AI scientists, Insights Team, and Product Managers to translate model data requirements into actionable data work.

* Compliance & Responsible AI: Ensure data operations comply with privacy regulations, internal policies, and responsible AI standards.

* Regulation: Understand and ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to the role.

Qualifications

* Education: Minimum 4-Year Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.

* Experience: 4 years in data operations, program management, or AI/ML product roles, with experience in data annotation, labeling, or data pipeline management.

* Skills:

* Hands-on experience with annotation platforms and data pipeline orchestration tools.

* Excellent project management skills for coordinating concurrent workstreams.

* Strong understanding of AI/ML data requirements and data quality impact on model performance.

* Strong analytical and written communication skills.

* Experience managing distributed annotator teams.

* Collaborative, low-ego working style with decision-making confidence.

* Commitment to responsible data practices (privacy, bias awareness, ethical sourcing).

* Proficiency in standard productivity and collaboration tools (Microsoft Office, Confluence, JIRA).

* Familiarity with data infrastructure and ML tooling environments preferred.

* Ability to query datasets in SQL, review performance metrics, and present data quality strategy.

* Professional attitude, team player, strong interpersonal communication skills.
