2. About the Opportunity:
The Manager, Data Science will lead a data science team conducting research and development projects that apply machine learning and generative AI to enhance security capabilities. This role is central to driving innovation, setting strategic direction for AI initiatives, and enabling the team to deliver impactful results. The position demands both deep technical expertise and strong leadership to navigate complex AI challenges and foster collaboration across multiple teams.
3. Responsibilities:
• Lead the data science team on high-impact R&D projects, ensuring fast iteration and clear communication
• Coach and develop team members through regular one-on-ones, reviews, and career conversations
• Recruit and onboard new team members with attention to team dynamics
• Promote a culture focused on responsible AI, innovation, and technical excellence
• Collaborate with product, UX, security, and engineering teams to inform strategy and delivery expectations
• Define and influence the organization’s generative AI and LLM strategy with peer teams
• Manage resource planning, technical decision-making, and budget aligned with product roadmaps
• Set clear milestones for research initiatives, monitor progress with metrics, and report to senior leadership
• Maintain responsible AI practices including fairness, explainability, safety, and bias monitoring for ML and LLM systems
• Contribute up to 25% of time to feature implementation, bug fixes, and technical design
• Partner with marketing to create technical content and represent the organization internally and externally
4. Requirements:
• 4+ years of experience leading and managing data science teams, with strong coaching skills
• Proven ability to build trust and maintain relationships across product management, customer success, and engineering
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills in remote or hybrid team environments
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and scaling ML solutions on AWS and/or GCP
• Extensive Python experience, including productionizing exploratory models
• Proficiency in Python data science frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, or Scikit-Learn, with expert depth in at least one
• Experience with generative AI and LLM frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or OpenAI/Anthropic SDKs
• Familiarity with RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation
• Knowledge of MLOps tools such as Vertex AI, SageMaker, or MLflow, and vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate
• Experience with agentic AI workflows and multi-agent orchestration, preferably using AWS technologies
• Solid software engineering practices including Git, CI/CD, code review, and writing testable code
• Educational background in AI, machine learning, statistics, graph theory, or related fields; Bachelor''s degree in Math or Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of professional data science experience including 4+ years in leadership roles
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Base salary range between $151,000 USD and $219,000 USD plus bonus eligibility and equity
• Salary will be based on experience, skills, team equity, and market data
