As the most senior hands-on engineer, you will own the technical direction of the UK’s leading property data platform. Reporting to the CTO, you will lead a high-performing squad to scale a system processing terabytes of data. This backend-leaning role balances daily coding in Node.js and PostgreSQL with strategic architectural leadership.

What you will do:

* Provide architectural oversight across the full stack, specifically evolving complex Elasticsearch-driven architectures and heavy PostgreSQL data pipelines.

* Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through coaching and design reviews while contributing high-quality code to the React and Node.js codebase daily.

The ideal candidate:

* 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2-3 years in a Lead, Staff, or Senior-plus leadership capacity.

* Deep technical expertise in the modern JavaScript ecosystem, specifically Node.js, Express, tRPC, React, and advanced PostgreSQL query optimization.

* Proven track record of scaling data-intensive SaaS platforms and leading engineering initiatives within a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
