Lead Instructor, Applied AI Engineering

This role is an opportunity to directly shape the next generation of AI-native engineers by delivering high-impact, industry-relevant education in applied artificial intelligence. You will lead virtual classrooms of hundreds of students, guiding them through modern AI concepts including generative AI, large language models, and multimodal systems. The position blends technical expertise with teaching excellence, requiring you to translate complex engineering concepts into engaging, accessible learning experiences. You will collaborate closely with program staff and co-instructors to ensure instructional quality, student engagement, and learning outcomes. Operating in a remote, fast-paced academic environment, you will continuously refine course delivery based on feedback and performance metrics. This is a highly mission-driven role where your work directly expands access to cutting-edge AI education for underrepresented and first-generation students.

Accountabilities

* Lead live virtual lecture sessions for 300-450 students, ensuring strong engagement and achievement of learning objectives.

* Deliver structured, engaging instruction using pre-built curriculum focused on applied AI, generative models, and modern software engineering practices.

* Collaborate with program managers, co-instructors, and teaching assistants to ensure smooth course execution and alignment on student success goals.

* Review, adapt, and improve lesson delivery based on student feedback, KPIs, and course performance data.

* Participate in onboarding sessions, instructional syncs, and pre-course training to ensure readiness and alignment across teaching teams.

* Provide ongoing feedback on curriculum effectiveness and suggest improvements to enhance learning outcomes.

* Observe and support peer instructors when needed, contributing to continuous instructional quality improvement.

* Maintain a structured, organized approach to teaching while managing evolving course needs and student dynamics.

Requirements

* 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering or related technical roles.

* Strong proficiency in Python and solid understanding of modern software development practices.

* Hands-on experience with generative AI, including large language models and/or multimodal systems.

* Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts in an engaging and educational format.

* Experience working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and collaborative team structures.

* Passion for education, mentoring, or teaching in academic, professional, or volunteer settings.

* Availability to teach during at least one of the scheduled evening session blocks (PT time zone).

* Preferred: 1+ year of formal instructional or teaching experience with strong learner outcomes.

* Strong organizational skills and commitment to delivering high-quality remote learning experiences.
