Full Description

We are supporting a well-funded, early-stage startup building next-generation physical AI systems that bridge perception, decision-making, and real-world autonomy. Backed by leading investors, the company is focused on deploying intelligent machines into complex, unstructured environments in real-world settings. This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and help shape both the technical direction and real-world deployment of cutting-edge AI systems.

We’re looking for a Lead Computer Vision Engineer to own and scale perception for next-generation autonomous systems operating in complex, real-world environments. This is a hands-on leadership role, you’ll set the technical direction, architect robust vision systems, and work closely with robotics, controls, and AI teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead end-to-end development of computer vision systems (detection, segmentation, tracking, 3D perception)

• Design and optimise models for real-time, edge-constrained environments

• Work across multi-sensor fusion (camera, LiDAR, radar) to improve robustness and accuracy

• Own performance metrics (latency, accuracy, reliability) and continuously improve system performance

• Collaborate cross-functionally with robotics, software, and hardware teams

• Mentor and grow a team of CV / ML engineers while setting engineering best practices

What we’re looking for:

• Strong academic or industry background in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related field

• Proven track record of deploying CV models into production environments (not just research)

• Deep experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, plus solid Python/C++ skills

• Experience with 3D vision, SLAM, or sensor fusion is highly desirable

• Familiarity with MLOps, data pipelines, and model lifecycle management

• Experience working on robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or physical AI systems is a big plus

• Previous leadership experience or clear readiness to step into a lead role

Tech stack:

• Python, C++, PyTorch / TensorFlow

• ROS / ROS2, real-time systems

• Edge deployment (NVIDIA Jetson or similar)

Why this role?

• Build real-world AI systems that interact with the physical environment

• High ownership, shape architecture, team, and long-term vision

• Work alongside a high-calibre, deeply technical team

• Fast-paced environment with real impact from day one
