Junior Solutions Architect

Position Overview

Varmoda seeks a Junior Solutions Architect to support the design, development, and delivery of innovative, compliant, and scalable technology solutions for federal and commercial customers. This role bridges business requirements with technical solutions by conducting requirements analysis, developing system designs, and supporting the preparation of solution artifacts.

The Junior Solutions Architect will collaborate with senior architects, delivery teams, and customers to develop solution concepts, evaluate alternatives, and produce high-quality documentation using modern tools, including Microsoft Copilot AI within MS Word, to accelerate solution development and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Development & Architecture Support

* Perform requirements analysis by engaging stakeholders to understand business, functional, and technical needs.

* Translate requirements into solution architectures, system designs, and technical approaches.

* Develop concepts of operations (CONOPS), architecture diagrams, and technical design documentation.

* Assist in building end-to-end solutions across applications, infrastructure, cloud, and security domains.

Work Breakdown & Planning

* Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned with project scope and deliverables.

* Support estimation of effort, resources, and timelines for proposed solutions.

* Contribute to project planning documentation and execution strategies.

Technology Evaluation & COTS Selection

* Evaluate and recommend Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and cloud-based products.

* Conduct alternatives analysis (Analysis of Alternatives – AoA) including cost, risk, and technical fit.

* Prepare comparative assessments and justification documentation for recommended solutions.

Documentation & Proposal Support

* Create solution design documents, architecture narratives, and technical proposals.

* Use Microsoft Copilot AI within MS Word to enhance drafting, editing, and structuring of deliverables.

* Develop client-ready presentations, white papers, and technical responses.

Compliance & Process Integration

* Support implementation and alignment with cybersecurity and quality frameworks, including:

* CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification)

* ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems)

* ISO 27001 (Information Security Management Systems)

* ISO 20000 (IT Service Management)

* CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration)

* Assist in ensuring solutions adhere to compliance, security, and process maturity requirements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

* Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, cybersecurity, program management, and business development.

* Coordinate with customers to refine solution approaches and incorporate feedback.

* Support senior architects in customer briefings and technical discussions.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

* 1–3 years of experience in IT systems analysis, solution design, or related technical role.

* Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle and solution architecture principles.

* Experience in requirements gathering and technical documentation.

* Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and enterprise IT systems.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

* Exposure to federal government contracting environments and compliance frameworks.

* Familiarity with CMMC and ISO standards implementation.

* Experience evaluating COTS products and SaaS solutions.

* Knowledge of architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, DoDAF).

* Experience using AI-assisted tools such as Microsoft Copilot for documentation or solution development.
