Title: Junior Security Engineer (AI-Focused)

Type: 2-Year Contract (High likelihood of full-term engagement)

Location: Toronto, ON- Hybrid (Approx. 4 days/week onsite)

Compensation: $30-$34/hour

Start Date: ASAP

Interview Process: 1 round (In-person)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

* The Junior Security Engineer will work closely with senior security architects on a mix of security engineering, AI-related initiatives, and technical analysis work.

* The majority of the role will involve breaking down complex systems, reviewing and interpreting technical documentation, and producing clear technical diagrams (application flows, data movement, integrations, logging). The candidate will also support AI-related engineering work, including exposure to AI agents and data-driven systems.

* Additional responsibilities include contributing to secure architecture understanding, supporting engineering problem-solving, and delivering structured outputs with minimal oversight.

Must-Haves:

* 0-1 year of experience (new grad or early-career)

* Strong academic background (Computer Science, Engineering, Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, or similar)

* Demonstrated interest or hands-on exposure to AI / Machine Learning / AI agents

* Strong technical foundation in software engineering or data engineering concepts

* Exceptional problem-solving ability and high intellectual curiosity

* Ability to break down complex problems and produce structured outputs

* High level of integrity, authenticity, and ownership

* Self-motivated, hungry, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment

Pluses:

* Personal projects, GitHub, or academic work in AI, security, or backend systems

* Exposure to cybersecurity concepts (application security, threat modeling, cloud, logging)

* Experience working with data systems or backend architectures

* Security certifications or progress toward them (Security+, CISSP, cloud security)

* Background from top-tier or highly competitive universities
