Intern - AI & Agentic Solutions - Summer 2026
AcxiomFull Description
We are looking for an exceptional AI-native intern to do something genuinely different: sit inside our business, listen carefully, and then build something that matters.
During the course of your time with us, you will move from observer to builder. You will embed with teams across the organization — from operations and customer experience to product and finance — to understand how work really gets done. You will identify a high-value problem, design an agentic AI solution, and build and deliver it. The outcome could be a step-change in productivity, a leap in quality, or a new capability that enhances what we offer to customers.
This is not a shadowing program or a research project and you will be tasked with building a real solution ready for real-world use
Job Description
Internship details:
* The internship will begin June 15th, 2026
* Can be onsite in New York Office or remote
* 20-25 hours/week work dedication during the semester and up to 40/week during breaks and summer
* Anticipated graduation date between December 2026 - May 2027
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Discovery & Shadowing
Embed with business teams across departments. Conduct structured interviews and workflow observation sessions to surface friction points, inefficiencies, and opportunity areas.
Problem Definition & Solution Design
Analyze findings, priorities a high-impact use case, and design an agentic solution architecture. Present a business case — including expected ROI, effort, and risk — to a review panel.
Build, Test & Iterate
Prototype and build the approved agentic solution using LLMs, automation frameworks, and APIs. Run iterative testing with real users, gather feedback, and refine.
Handover & Showcase
Document the solution end-to-end and present results to leadership: measured impact, lessons learned, and a roadmap for scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Shadow and interview team members across multiple business functions to map workflows, pain points, and opportunity areas.
* Define a concrete problem statement linked to at least one of: productivity gains, quality improvement, or offer enhancement.
* Design the architecture for an agentic solution — including agent roles, tool use, data flows, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
* Build a working prototype using LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks (e.g. CoPilot Studio, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen), and relevant integrations.comm
* Test with real end users, iterate on feedback, and document outcomes with measurable impact metrics.
* Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders throughout, translating AI concepts into business language.
* Produce handover documentation and a final presentation to senior leadership.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Basic Qualifications:
* Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM field
* Background in a business domain such as operations, finance, customer service, or product — or genuine curiosity to learn one quickly.
* Strong working knowledge of large language models and prompt engineering, including system design with tool-use and function-calling.
* Demonstrated understanding of prompt engineering, context engineering, model selection, and evaluation methodology
* Hands-on experience building agentic or autonomous AI systems — whether in coursework, personal projects, or prior internships.
* Proficiency in Python and familiarity with at least one LLM orchestration framework.
* Exceptional communication skills — the ability to listen, ask sharp questions, and translate insights across disciplines.
* Intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity; you thrive when the problem is not yet defined.
Desirable/Preferred Qualifications:
* Exposure to RAG pipelines, vector databases, or structured knowledge retrieval.
* Experience with API integration, workflow automation tools (e.g. Zapier, Make, n8n), or RPA platforms.
* Understanding of responsible AI principles: bias, transparency, and safe deployment.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
* A deployed (or deployment-ready) agentic solution with a measurable business impact demonstrated through user testing.
* A clear and compelling final presentation that earns stakeholder confidence for further investment.
* Documentation thorough enough that the solution can be maintained and scaled without you.
* Relationships built across the organization, with teams leaving more AI-confident than when you arrived.
WHAT YOU WILL GAIN:
* Real-world experience designing and shipping agentic AI systems in a live business context — not a toy dataset.
* Direct access to senior leaders and cross-functional teams, accelerating your understanding of how organizations work.
* A portfolio piece that demonstrates end-to-end AI product thinking: problem discovery, solution design, build, and delivery.
* Mentorship from practitioners working at the intersection of AI and business transformation.
* Competitive internship compensation and potential for a full-time offer on successful completion.
