We’re partnering with a well-funded, fast-growing biotechnology company building an AI-driven platform focused on solving complex challenges in therapeutic discovery and delivery.

They are looking for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in cross-disciplinary environments and enjoys building platforms that sit at the intersection of machine learning, computational biology, and experimental science.

The Opportunity

A rapidly growing biotech company developing an AI-first discovery platform that combines machine learning, protein engineering, and high-throughput experimentation to design and optimize novel therapeutic delivery systems. As the company continues to scale its platform capabilities, they are looking for a Head of Platform (ML / Protein Design) to lead the development and evolution of the computational infrastructure that powers their discovery engine.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving cross-disciplinary scientific problemsM from protein modelling and sequence optimisation to integrating experimental data into machine learning systems.

You’ll work closely with scientists across computational and experimental teams, helping translate platform innovation into real-world therapeutic discovery programs.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

* Leading the development and evolution of the company’s computational discovery platform

* Architecting and implementing machine learning models for protein design and sequence optimisation

* Building scalable infrastructure to support protein modelling and experimental feedback loops

* Integrating high-throughput experimental data into model development pipelines

* Remaining hands-on in model development and technical problem solving

* Applying generative modelling, protein language models, or structural modelling approaches

* Partnering closely with protein engineering, molecular biology, and translational teams

* Acting as a technical interface with external collaborators and scientific partners

* Helping shape the long-term strategy and architecture of the computational platform

What We’re Looking For:

* PhD in Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biophysics, or a related field

* Strong experience building machine learning models for biological or protein modelling problems

* Hands-on expertise in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow)

* Experience integrating experimental biological data into ML workflows

* Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams combining ML and wet-lab biology

* Comfortable operating in fast-paced, startup-like environments

* Protein design or protein modelling

Highly valued experience includes:

* Generative modelling applied to biological systems

* Structural biology or molecular modelling

* Experience with high-throughput screening datasets

* Building scalable computational platforms in biotech or pharma environments
