This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for defining and executing the entire engineering vision for a high-scale payments and data infrastructure platform. You will shape the architecture of a system that blends real-time transaction processing with structured, AI-ready financial data. The role combines deep technical leadership with strategic business alignment, ensuring engineering decisions directly support product scalability, reliability, and revenue growth. You will lead distributed teams, build strong engineering culture, and establish best-in-class practices across architecture, DevOps, and security. Operating in a high-growth environment, you will play a key role in evolving systems designed for high-load, event-driven operations. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of architecture, execution, and organizational leadership.
Accountabilities
* Define and lead the overall engineering and architecture strategy, ensuring scalability, resilience, and long-term technical vision for the platform
* Oversee design and evolution of a high-load, event-driven distributed system with strong focus on reliability and fault isolation
* Establish engineering governance frameworks including RFCs, tech standards, vendor evaluation, and pragmatic risk management practices
* Own reliability engineering, including observability, incident response, SRE practices, postmortems, and continuous system improvement
* Lead engineering organization development, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management of engineers and tech leads
* Drive DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure optimization, cost efficiency, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery strategies
* Partner with executive stakeholders to align technical priorities with business goals, product direction, and revenue impact
* Champion automation, AI adoption, and continuous engineering process improvements across teams
* Define API strategies, integration standards, and system-wide engineering best practices
Requirements
* Proven experience as CTO, Head of Engineering, or Principal Architect in a high-scale SaaS, fintech, or infrastructure-driven organization
* Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures operating at production scale
* Hands-on engineering background with strong proficiency in Go and Python
* Deep understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, SRE principles, and large-scale incident management
* Demonstrated success in improving system reliability, uptime, deployment frequency, MTTR, MTTD, and infrastructure efficiency
* Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, system design, security principles, and scalable architecture patterns
* Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance and secure financial system design
* Proven leadership in hiring, mentoring, and scaling high-performing engineering teams
* Experience in vendor selection, negotiation, and technology evaluation
* Strong business acumen with ability to connect engineering decisions to revenue, risk, and customer trust
* English proficiency at B2 level and fluent Russian language skills
