This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the engineering direction of a fast-growing, remote-friendly organization specializing in eCommerce solutions. You will oversee the performance, scalability, and operational excellence of the development function, ensuring technical execution aligns with business priorities and client needs. Acting as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams, you will define the engineering roadmap, establish processes, and mentor a talented team of engineers. This role combines technical mastery, operational thinking, and client-facing influence, giving you the ability to impact both internal delivery and external project success. You will champion modern development practices, introduce innovative technologies, and foster a culture of excellence, efficiency, and collaboration.

Accountabilities

* Define and manage engineering priorities in alignment with company goals, timelines, and business impact

* Own and execute the engineering roadmap, ensuring strategic alignment across projects and initiatives

* Lead cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Design, and Project Management to enable seamless delivery

* Establish and scale development processes, standards, and workflows to improve consistency and team efficiency

* Oversee engineering delivery to ensure projects meet expectations for quality, scope, and timelines

* Identify and resolve bottlenecks, implementing solutions to enhance performance, reduce rework, and improve predictability

* Serve as a senior escalation point for technical challenges across client projects and internal initiatives

* Represent engineering in client and sales discussions, clearly communicating technical solutions and trade-offs

* Promote adoption of innovative technologies, including AI, to improve engineering workflows and operational efficiency

* Mentor and develop the engineering team, supporting growth, performance, and technical excellence

Requirements

* 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant leadership or management experience

* Proven ability to lead engineering teams in agency, eCommerce, or digital product environments

* Strong understanding of modern development workflows, scalable systems, and project delivery best practices

* Experience with Shopify or similar eCommerce platforms is highly preferred

* Demonstrated ability to align engineering execution with business strategy and client objectives

* Excellent communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and client stakeholders effectively

* Experience implementing or leveraging AI tools to enhance engineering efficiency

* Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
