We're working with a leading global insurance and financial services powerhouse on this exciting opportunity. This is a rare "greenfield" chance to build a nationwide AI capability from the ground up within a highly regulated, data-rich environment.

As the Head of AI, you will be the architectural and strategic visionary, moving from 0 to 1 to establish a world-class Centre of Excellence. You will leverage enterprise-grade technologies like Azure and Databricks to transform complex insurance data into high-impact machine learning solutions that redefine the industry landscape.

The Role

* Define and execute the UK AI Strategy from scratch, building a high-performing team of 10-15 specialists from the ground up.

* Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of production-grade Machine Learning (ML) models using TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.

* Establish robust AI Governance, Ethical Frameworks, and Responsible AI standards to ensure compliant innovation within the financial services sector.

* Architect sandbox environments and innovation accelerators, providing technical guidance on tooling and enterprise architecture integration.

* Act as a high-level influencer, translating complex AI capabilities into measurable business value for UK and Global Executive stakeholders.

What You'll Need

* Proven track record as a Head of AI, Head of Data Science, or Senior Lead with experience scaling teams from 0 to 15 people.

* Deep technical expertise in the Azure ecosystem, Databricks, and modern ML libraries (Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

* Significant experience within the Insurance or regulated Financial Services sector is essential for navigating complex compliance landscapes.

* Hands-on experience moving models from research/R&D environments into full-scale production at an enterprise level.

* Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and present to board-level executives.
