Founding AI Solutions Architect
HatBackFull Description
About
HatBack helps small and mid-sized businesses eliminate manual work, recover lost revenue, and scale operations using AI and automation.
We don't build AI demos. We quickly deliver systems businesses actually run on.
What we build
Practical systems that actually save time and make money:
* AI agents
* Workflow automation
* CRM integrations
* Outbound systems
* Lead routing
* Quoting workflows
* AI-assisted operations
* Internal tools
* Customer response automation
What we care about
This is not an "AI hype" company. We care about:
* Execution
* ROI
* Speed
* Simplicity
* Solving operational bottlenecks
Who we work with
SMB and MM companies, as well as BUs of larger orgs, that are too operationally complex for DIY tools, but too small for F-500 AI consulting.
The role
You will work directly with the founding team to design, build, deploy, and improve automation systems for real businesses. This is part solutions architect, part operator, part builder. You'll join discovery calls, scope workflows, build implementations, debug issues, improve deployments, and help turn messy operational problems into scalable systems. This is not a corporate engineering role. There are no massive teams, layers of management, or six-month planning cycles. We move quickly, solve problems, and ship.
What you'll do
* Join client discovery and solution calls
* Translate business and operational problems into working systems
* Design and implement AI and automation workflows
* Connect software platforms, data sources, and business processes
* Build and maintain internal tools and operational automations
* Troubleshoot and improve live client systems
* Help create scalable implementation standards as the company grows
What success looks like
Within your first 90 days, you will likely:
* Build and deploy live client automations
* Help launch AI workflows into production
* Improve operational response times
* Reduce manual work for paying customers
* Help establish repeatable implementation standards inside HatBack
What we value
We care far more about creativity, awareness, emotional intelligence, ownership, and communication than we do about degrees or AI buzzwords.
You might be a fit if
* You've built real automations for businesses before
* You know how to connect systems without overcomplicating them
* You can independently figure things out
* You understand LLMs, APIs, webhooks, and data flow
* You can explain technical concepts to non-technical people
* You're comfortable inside fast-moving startup environments
* You like building practical systems that create measurable ROI
Look elsewhere if
* You need detailed specs before starting
* You over-engineer simple solutions
* You care more about theory than shipping
* You disappear when problems happen
* You want a stable corporate environment
* You think every problem needs custom code
* You cannot communicate directly with clients
Compensation
* Immediate — paid per project / implementation / live customer
* Equity available for the right long-term fit
* Flexible structure during early-stage growth
* As long as there are no conflicts of interest, you may continue working in other roles / on other projects
This is early stage
There is ambiguity and moving parts. Things will break. Clients will change requirements. You will need to adapt quickly. In return, you'll have direct influence on the company, real ownership opportunity, and the ability to help shape the future direction of the business.
To apply
There are no hard and fast requirements. Email us what you think is necessary to stand out. If you've actually built systems that businesses depend on, we want to hear from you.
