Role Description

This is a remote volunteer position for a Fire Sciences Research Scientist. In this role, you will conduct advanced research on fire behavior, smoke characteristics, and detection technologies to support the development and optimization of the HESDA™ system. Your day-to-day tasks will include modeling fire scenarios, analyzing data, designing experiments, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and providing detailed technical reports. You will contribute to cutting-edge advancements in fire science and safety innovation.

Qualifications

* Strong background in fire dynamics, combustion science, and heat transfer

* Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and research methodologies

* Familiarity with fire alarm systems, smoke detection technologies, and AI-driven tools

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

* Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and teamwork

* Self-motivated and able to work independently in a virtual team environment

* Advanced degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; relevant industry certifications are a plus

* Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and simulation tools (e.g., FDS, PyroSim) is advantageous

* Dedication to fire safety innovation and improving emergency preparedness
