Full Description

Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer

About The Role

We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need environmental engineers to make it happen. Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI reasons through complex problems in water treatment, air quality, remediation, and environmental compliance.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental science and cutting-edge AI — without leaving your home.

* Organization: Alignerr

* Type: Hourly Contract

* Location: Remote

* Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

* Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced environmental engineering scenarios spanning contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), and more

* Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion analyses that serve as benchmark answers

* Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and technical proofs for accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance (EPA, ISO 14001, and others)

* Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed mass balances, or overlooked secondary impacts, and deliver structured feedback to improve model performance

* Work Independently — Complete assignments asynchronously on a schedule that works for you

Who You Are

* Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or a closely related discipline

* Strong foundational knowledge in one or more areas: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediation

* Able to communicate complex technical and ecological concepts clearly in writing

* Detail-oriented — precise with unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory logic

* Self-motivated and comfortable working independently

* No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

* Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systems

* Familiarity with environmental modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, SWMM, MIKE, or similar)

* Background in EHS compliance or environmental consulting

Why Join Us

* Work on cutting-edge AI projects with top research labs

* Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule

* Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration

* Contribute to meaningful work that improves how AI handles real-world environmental challenges

* Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
