Engineer (Manufacturing & Automation)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina, United States

Work Type: On-site | Full-time (Night Shift)

Overview

An engineering role focused on supporting manufacturing operations through equipment troubleshooting, process improvement, and automation optimization. This position plays a key role in maintaining production efficiency, ensuring quality compliance, and delivering engineering projects within a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Process Support

* Provide engineering support to manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and optimize equipment and processes

* Improve system performance, reliability, and overall production efficiency

* Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements (cGMP)

Automation & Controls

* Troubleshoot and maintain automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and servo systems

* Support hardware and software modifications for process control systems

* Develop and update standard operating procedures for automation equipment

Mechanical Systems

* Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues across manufacturing equipment

* Support installation, modification, and validation of mechanical systems

Project Management

* Manage medium-scale engineering projects from initiation through completion

* Track progress, manage budgets, and communicate updates to stakeholders

* Support capital projects and process improvement initiatives

Validation & Compliance

* Execute equipment validation and ensure compliance with change control processes

* Maintain accurate documentation, specifications, and system updates

Continuous Improvement & Safety

* Apply 6S principles to maintain a safe and efficient work environment

* Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

* 1+ years of relevant engineering experience

* Strong project management and problem-solving skills

* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation

Technical Skills

* Automation systems (PLCs, HMI/MMI, robotics, servo systems)

* CAD software and engineering tools

* Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

* Basic understanding of process control systems
