Omnis Partners is exclusively partnering with a leading AI consultancy that specialises in deploying real-world AI systems inside large financial institutions. Their work sits far beyond experimentation, they build production-grade AI platforms, MLOps frameworks, and scalable machine learning systems that operate in complex, regulated environments.

They are now hiring a Director of AI Engineering to lead delivery and technical direction across their Financial Services portfolio.

This role is designed for someone who has personally built and deployed machine learning systems into production, understands the realities of operating AI across financial services, and enjoys solving hard engineering problems rather than purely theoretical ones.

You will work directly with senior leaders at major financial institutions while guiding internal engineering teams to design and deploy robust AI infrastructure that delivers measurable business outcomes.

This is a technical leadership role, but it requires credibility that comes from deep engineering experience. The person stepping into this role will have spent much of their career building systems, not just advising on them.

The Role

* Lead the technical delivery of AI and machine learning systems deployed into production for financial services clients.

* Shape MLOps, model deployment, and scalable AI architectures across multiple programmes.

* Guide engineering teams building production AI pipelines, data platforms, and model lifecycle infrastructure.

* Work closely with senior client stakeholders to translate complex business problems into deployable AI systems.

* Ensure solutions meet the demands of regulated environments including governance, reliability, and auditability,

* Mentor senior engineers and machine learning practitioners delivering complex AI systems.

What We’re Looking For

This role is best suited to someone who has built their career in AI/ML engineering rather than purely data science or advisory work.

You will likely bring:

* Extensive experience deploying machine learning systems into production.

* Strong background in software engineering, distributed systems, or platform engineering.

* Deep expertise in MLOps, model lifecycle management, and scalable AI deployment.

* Have a passion for and extensive experience delivering AI within financial services (banking, insurance, asset management, or capital markets).

* A track record of leading engineering teams delivering production systems

* Comfort operating in complex enterprise environments with strict governance and compliance requirements

This role requires someone who enjoys taking AI beyond experimentation and making it reliable, scalable, and operational inside large organisations.
