Job Summary

The Staff Data Engineer – API is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native data platforms and APIs on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role partners closely with data engineers, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions in an enterprise environment.

This position requires deep experience in API development, data engineering, GCP services, CI/CD automation, and Agile methodologies, along with strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, build, and maintain enterprise-scale data pipelines and platforms on GCP

* Develop, deploy, and manage RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI) and Apigee

* Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies

* Work with stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions

* Support real-time and streaming data processing using Kafka and Spark Streaming

* Ensure adherence to cloud, API, data security, and compliance best practices

* Enable self-service analytics including dashboards, data discovery, and data catalogs

* Monitor data pipelines, enforce SLAs, and improve operational efficiency

* Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices

* Participate in technical design discussions and architecture decisions

* Apply Agile/Scrum methodologies in day-to-day development

* Stay current with GCP services, cloud architecture patterns, and modern data technologies

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $76,200 to $187,740.

Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.

The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.

These may include, but are not limited to: Geographic location, Education and qualifications, Certifications and licenses, Relevant experience and skills, Seniority and performance, Market and business consideration, Internal pay equity.

It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
