About PerkyPet
PerkyPet is a pre-seed AI-powered pet health monitoring platform designed to extend the lives of pets by delivering proactive, preventive care between vet visits. Our platform combines 41 specialized AI agents, continuous behavioral and health monitoring, and a proprietary clinical safety layer built on real-world veterinary science.
We’re backed by $1M in founder capital, have 2,000+ pet parents on our waitlist, and are launching in June 2026. With 8 patents filed and coverage in Wired, USA Today, and more forthcoming, we’re building a new category in a $364B+ global pet health market.
Our founders bring the depth this space demands:
* Tim Maliyil (CEO/CTO) — Serial founder who scaled AlertBoot to $40M+ ARR and 1M+ daily users across a 150-person global team.
* Dara Huang, MD (CSO) — Practicing nephrologist and prevention-first clinician who designed the clinical frameworks and safety architecture at PerkyPet’s core.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced contract recruiter to serve as our dedicated talent partner for a 6-12-month engagement. You will own end-to-end recruiting across two critical functions — Go-to-Market and Engineering — in both the United States and United Kingdom, working directly with the founding team to expand PerkyPet’s workforce.
This is not a staff augmentation role. You’ll be a strategic partner helping shape how we hire, who we target, and how we show up to candidates. The people you place will directly determine whether we hit our launch targets and scale past them.
What You’ll Own
Talent Strategy
* Partner with the CEO and Chief of Staff to define hiring profiles for GTM and engineering roles across the US and UK
* Build sourcing strategies tailored to each market, including passive candidate outreach and pipeline development
* Advise on comp benchmarking, leveling, and offer positioning in both markets
Full-Cycle Recruiting
* Own the full recruiting lifecycle from job description through signed offer for every role
* Manage candidate pipelines and provide weekly reporting to the founding team
* Drive a candidate experience that reflects PerkyPet’s mission and seriousness of purpose
Cross-Market Execution
* Simultaneously recruit across US and UK jurisdictions, navigating local hiring norms and employment expectations
* Build and maintain relationships with target talent pools in health tech, consumer AI, and enterprise software
Who We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
* Proven track record recruiting at the early-stage startup level (pre-seed to Series B), ideally in health tech, consumer AI, or adjacent verticals
* Experience hiring across both the United States and United Kingdom — you understand the differences and don’t need to be taught them
* Ability to recruit at senior IC and leadership levels for GTM (Head of Marketing, Growth, Partnerships) and engineering (AI/ML, full-stack, platform)
* Comfortable operating without a large recruiting infrastructure — you build the process, not just fill the queue
* Strong written communication: you represent us well to candidates
Nice-to-Haves
* Background in pet industry, digital health, or consumer wellness
* Existing candidate network in health tech or AI startups
* Experience working with first-time hires at venture-backed companies
Compensation
This engagement is structured as a $10,000 monthly retainer plus success fee per candidate. Specific terms will be discussed with qualified candidates. We expect this to be a competitive arrangement reflective of the scope and seniority of the roles you’ll be filling.
