🚀 We’re Hiring: Solutions Architect / Consultant (Hybrid – Cape Town)

📍 Cape Town, South Africa (Hybrid) | 🕒 Full-Time

Ultima is looking for a Solutions Architect / Consultant to join our growing team. This is a client-facing, technically hands-on role where you’ll design and deliver modern cloud solutions for UK and US customers—primarily on AWS—while driving real business value.

🌍 About the Role

As a Solutions Architect / Consultant, you will:

* Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures (primarily AWS)

* Act as Technical Owner for a portfolio of customer accounts

* Drive continuous optimisation across cost, performance, security, and reliability

* Partner with Account Managers to identify and shape growth opportunities

* Support pre-sales and new business with solution design and technical leadership

This is a hybrid role based in Cape Town, working with international clients and stakeholders.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

* Architect and deliver robust cloud solutions across compute, networking, storage, and databases

* Lead on high availability, disaster recovery, and security architecture

* Develop and review Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)

* Design and integrate technologies such as:

* Cloudflare (DNS, WAF, CDN, Zero Trust)

* Load balancing, caching, and performance optimisation tools

* Produce high-quality technical documentation, diagrams, and proposals

* Lead cloud migrations and modernisation initiatives

* Ensure operational readiness through runbooks, documentation, and knowledge transfer

🤝 Customer & Commercial Impact

* Act as a trusted advisor, maintaining deep knowledge of customer environments

* Drive FinOps and cost optimisation strategies (e.g., rightsizing, Savings Plans)

* Deliver technical roadmaps aligned to business growth

* Support QBRs/MBRs and present solutions to stakeholders at all levels

* Identify and develop upsell and cross-sell opportunities

* Contribute to pipeline growth and expansion revenue

🎯 What We’re Looking For

* Strong experience with AWS (certification such as AWS SA Pro preferred)

* Working knowledge of Azure and/or GCP

* Experience with Cloudflare and modern web security/performance tooling

* Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise-grade cloud architectures

* Comfortable in client-facing, consultative environments

* Commercial awareness with the ability to translate technical insight into business value
