Automation Software Engineer

About The Opportunity

We are looking for an Automation Software Engineer to join a fast-moving AI and automation team embedded within a global technology company.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. The ideal candidate is a builder, a collaborator, and a problem-solver who can sit directly with business stakeholders, understand their pain points, and rapidly prototype working solutions, often within 24 hours.

You will work at the intersection of engineering and product, taking ideas from conversation to working prototype with minimal friction. You are comfortable asking the right questions, navigating ambiguity, and delivering value incrementally.

We are seeking a versatile builder who is comfortable prototyping solutions across systems and APIs and supporting experimentation workflows.

Responsibilities

* Partner directly with business teams to surface automation opportunities and translate needs into technical requirements

* Rapidly prototype solutions and walk stakeholders through working demos, iterating in real time

* Build automation workflows that connect internal and third-party systems via APIs

* Develop and maintain microservices, scripts, and pipelines using TypeScript, Node.js, Python, or Go

* Follow infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines

* Participate in code reviews (MRs), ensure secrets are properly managed, and flag security considerations early

* Collaborate with senior engineers on production readiness, deployment processes, and technical standards

* Come into the San Francisco/Austin office as needed to work alongside the business stakeholders you are supporting—needs to have this kind of profile: comfortable sitting with stakeholders and helping them, willing to go to the office when needed.

Required Qualifications

Languages and Frameworks:

* TypeScript / Node.js (highly preferred)

* Python or Go is also acceptable

* Comfortable working across multiple languages as needed

Infrastructure And DevOps

* Terraform: ability to deploy infrastructure resources, understand plan/apply cycles, and work within an existing repo

* GitHub / GitLab: familiar with branching, MR processes, and code review workflows

* CI/CD pipelines: understanding of how code gets deployed to production

API And Integration Experience

* Hands-on experience building or consuming REST APIs

* Ability to build microservices that integrate disparate systems

* Knows how to request API access, understand permissions, and troubleshoot integration issues

Nice To Have Skills

AI and Automation Tooling

* Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a plus

* Experience with RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) or similar AI tooling is a plus

* Interest in AI-assisted development and building with LLM-backed tools
