OakTruss Group is seeking an Advisor, Artificial Intelligence to support the design, development, and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions across client and internal initiatives. This role is well-suited for a junior-level professional who is not entry level and who brings hands-on technical experience, a strong engineering mindset, and the ability to contribute in both technical and advisory capacities.
In this role, you will help build scalable AI systems with a strong emphasis on large language models, data pipelines, and secure deployment architectures. You will contribute to technical delivery, collaborate with senior team members, and support the continued growth of AI capabilities across the organization.
Externally, you will engage with clients as a technical contributor and advisor, helping translate business needs into practical AI solutions. Internally, you will partner with leadership, PMO, and cross-functional teams to support AI-driven capabilities aligned with company strategy. This role will support client environments including financial services and healthcare, where security, privacy, risk, and compliance considerations are especially important.
Key responsibilities
* Support the design and implementation of end-to-end AI systems, including data ingestion, model integration, orchestration layers, and user-facing applications
* Assist in the development and deployment of LLM-based solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering frameworks, and fine-tuning support
* Build, manage, and optimize AI tools, APIs, and services in cloud and hybrid environments
* Help ensure scalability, reliability, and security of AI systems across multiple environments
* Follow established engineering best practices for AI development, testing, and deployment
* Support assessments of existing AI systems for ethical alignment, bias, implementation risks, and governance gaps
* Contribute to AI system design and implementation across projects
* Provide technical input and support to engineering teams during solution development
* Collaborate with senior team members on AI engineering, LLMs, and system design principles
* Help bridge the gap between high-level strategy and hands-on technical execution
* Support translation of client requirements into technical architectures and implementation plans
* Participate in technical discussions with client stakeholders and engineering teams
* Communicate AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Support technical execution of AI-related engagements in alignment with Statements of Work
* Help ensure timely delivery of technical solutions, documentation, and supporting materials
* Collaborate with PMO and leadership to manage priorities, timelines, and deliverables
* Identify and escalate technical risks across projects
* Contribute to internal tools, accelerators, intellectual property, and internal knowledge sharing
* Stay current on advancements in AI, LLMs, machine learning, and related technologies
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related technical field preferred
* Master’s degree preferred, but not required
* 3+ years of professional experience, including:
* 2+ years in software engineering, systems engineering, platform engineering, or related technical roles
* 1+ years building, supporting, or deploying AI/ML systems
* Exposure to LLMs or advanced AI systems in academic, professional, or applied environments
* Consulting or client-facing experience preferred, but not required
Preferred technical experience
* Solid understanding of how LLMs work at a macro level, including transformers, embeddings, training vs. inference, and model limitations
* Hands-on experience supporting AI tools, applications, and infrastructure
* Proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar
* Familiarity with LLM tooling and ecosystems, including APIs, orchestration frameworks, and vector databases
* Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
* Familiarity with scalable deployment concepts such as containers, serverless environments, and microservices
* Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including ETL pipelines and data governance
* Understanding of security, privacy, and risk considerations in AI systems
* Exposure to regulated or security-sensitive environments, including financial services and healthcare, is a plus
