Job Title: Applied Machine Learning Engineer

Company Description: Measurement Labs - VC-backed AI startup building the data layer for the physical world

Job Description:

Join a three-person engineering team building the intelligence layer for global infrastructure and manufacturing. You will design and deploy sophisticated systems combining computer vision, graph theory, and symbolic reasoning to automate complex manual processes. This is a high-impact role for a versatile engineer ready to bridge the gap between academic research and production-scale physical applications.

Location: San Francisco, USA

Why this role is remarkable:

* Work directly with founders who previously scaled and exited a successful YC-backed company, offering rare mentorship and high-growth potential.

* Tackle "real-world" ML challenges by synthesizing visual, satellite, and sensor data to solve critical problems for some of the world's largest industrial companies.

* Enjoy significant ownership and autonomy as one of the first five employees, influencing the architecture and culture of a fast-growing, top-tier VC-backed startup.

What you will do:

* Design and implement multi-model architectures that stitch together CNNs, ViTs, and graph-based heuristics into coherent, production-ready systems.

* Work across the full lifecycle of machine learning, from researching and fine-tuning domain-specific models to writing full-stack code for deployment.

* Collaborate directly with customers in utilities and manufacturing to understand their technical constraints and translate them into novel algorithmic solutions.

The ideal candidate:

* Possesses 0-7 years of experience with a strong foundation in Applied ML, Computer Vision, Graph Theory, or Symbolic AI from a startup or research setting.

* Holds a technical degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related Engineering field with a focus on pragmatic, outcome-oriented problem-solving.

* Demonstrates the ability to thrive in ambiguity, wearing multiple hats across ML research, software engineering, and customer-facing product development.
