At SimpleLegal (simple-legal.ca), we believe no one should have to figure that out without expert guidance. That's why we built an AI-powered immigration advisory platform that helps newcomers, workers, and families find their path to Canada with clarity and confidence.

Our AI Advisor analyzes 100+ active Canadian immigration streams in real time, delivers accurate multilingual guidance, and connects users with regulated immigration professionals when they need human support. We're a small, fast-moving team of legal professionals and technologists and we're just getting started.

Now, we're looking for an AI Solution Developer to help us build the next generation of our platform.

🏢 ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on technical role at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI. You'll design, build, and improve the intelligent systems that power SimpleLegal's immigration advisory tools, working directly with our legal team to ensure our AI is accurate, trustworthy, and accessible.

🔧 WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, develop and test our AI-powered platform, including web and mobile interfaces

• Build data models and system architectures to optimize AI performance and reliability

• Develop and maintain RAG pipelines referencing live IRCC documentation and immigration requirements

• Evaluate and integrate LLM APIs and open-source AI models

• Build scalable backend services and RESTful APIs connecting AI with legal workflows

• Test, troubleshoot and document software systems and AI pipelines

• Collaborate with immigration lawyers to translate regulations into accurate AI logic

✅ WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Experience with LLMs, RAG architecture, or conversational AI

• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, React/Next.js, AWS or GCP

• Strong communication skills and startup mindset

Nice to Have:

• Master's degree in CS, AI, or Software Engineering

• Familiarity with Canadian immigration or legal tech

• Multilingual skills (French, Vietnamese, Mandarin) 🌍
