Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced AI Prompt Engineer to lead the integration of AI-driven tools and processes into our software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Architects, Business Analysts, Developers, and QA Engineers—to enhance productivity, optimize workflows, and achieve measurable improvements in delivery efficiency through prompt engineering and AI adoption.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Dallas, TX is $110k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

* Design, develop, and maintain high-quality prompts for tasks such as user story creation, backlog refinement, acceptance criteria generation, test case and automation script development, and code refactoring.

* Build and manage a centralized prompt library for engineering teams.

* Partner with Architecture, Business Analysis, Development, and QA teams to embed AI tools into daily workflows and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, PI planning).

* Drive user adoption and ensure consistent usage of AI tools across engineering teams.

* Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including story cycle time, defect leakage, test coverage, and PR review-to-merge time.

* Continuously analyze performance metrics and optimize prompts and workflows for improved outcomes.

* Conduct training sessions, workshops, and hands-on enablement programs to promote AI best practices.

* Support development, testing, and documentation efforts through AI-assisted approaches.

Requirements:

* Experience in software engineering, quality assurance, or business analysis.

* Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot).

* Strong understanding of prompt engineering techniques for large language models (LLMs).

* Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.

* Knowledge of BDD tools (e.g., Cucumber, Gherkin), unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

* Experience implementing AI adoption or developer productivity initiatives.

* Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube.

* Understanding of DevSecOps practices and test automation.

* Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
