Job description
The Opportunity
Our client helps community banks and credit unions move AI from pilots to production.
We do not sell software. We do not run experiments that never scale. We work directly with CEOs, Boards, and executive teams to build practical AI programs that improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and create measurable business impact.
We are looking for someone who has worked inside community banks or credit unions and understands why AI adoption gets stuck — technically, operationally, and culturally.
This is a delivery role with strategic influence. You will advise leaders, train teams, and implement real AI workflows.
What You’ll Do
You will represent our client on client engagements and work directly with bank and credit union leadership teams.
Strategy
* Lead Board-level AI readiness assessments
* Apply our client's Ten Pillars framework
* Build 12-month AI adoption roadmaps
* Tie AI initiatives to Efficiency Ratio goals
* Advise executives on AI governance and risk
* Help prioritize AI investments
Delivery
* Train teams on Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini
* Run workshops for lending, compliance, operations, and branch teams
* Design practical AI workflows for real business use cases
* Implement solutions that show measurable results
* Help teams move from AI awareness to daily adoption
Change Management
* Identify and develop internal AI Champions
* Address resistance from managers and frontline teams
* Build adoption plans that survive after the engagement
* Help leadership create accountability around AI usage
* Turn AI from a side project into an operating capability
Vision
* You will work on meaningful AI transformation projects with real decision-makers.
* You will help community banks and credit unions adopt AI in ways that improve operations, strengthen teams, and create direct community impact.
* You will work with a senior, lean team where your judgment matters and your results are visible.
* This role is for someone who can think strategically, execute practically, and lead clients through real change.
* If you are ready to help community financial institutions move AI from theory to production, this is the right role.
Requirements
Who You Are
* You have meaningful experience inside community banks or credit unions — as an operator, consultant, or trusted advisor.
* You understand how these institutions work. You know why compliance teams hesitate, why middle management resists change, and what CEOs need to see before they shift direction.
* You are hands-on with AI tools, not just familiar with them. You can configure Copilot for a lending team, build a prompt library for a BSA officer, and lead a working session on data readiness with a CDO.
* You can speak to the Board in the morning and run a practical workshop with branch managers in the afternoon.
* You are independent, structured, and outcome-driven.
Required Experience
* 5+ years working with community banks or credit unions
* Experience as an employee, consultant, or embedded advisor
* Hands-on deployment experience with at least two AI platforms
* Experience with Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini
* Strong executive and frontline change management experience
* Ability to connect AI to efficiency, revenue, and risk
* Comfort presenting to Boards and C-Suite teams
* Ability to lead client engagements independently
* Willingness to travel 50–70% across the U.S.
Preferred Background
* Former Chief Transformation Officer, CDO, AI Lead, or Innovation Lead
* Experience inside a community bank or credit union
* Familiarity with OCC, FDIC, NCUA, and Federal Reserve guidance
* Understanding of AI governance and model risk
* Experience building AI training programs
* Knowledge of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams
* Experience turning AI strategy into operating workflows
Engagement Model
This is a 1099 contract role with a potential path to full-time.
* Our client engagements are fixed-fee or retainer-based, depending on the clientele. You will be positioned as a senior practitioner on client-facing materials.
* Travel and expenses are covered under our client’s standard policy. Compensation will depend on experience, scope, and engagement structure.
