About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backend Engineer to join our remote team working at a Series A AI startup specializing in LegalTech. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing company that is revolutionizing enterprise law firms’ deal processes through advanced AI integration and robust backend infrastructure. As a Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling our core products, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that directly impact enterprise clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, a passion for AI and large language models, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience as a backend or fullstack engineer with a focus on backend development. Proficiency in Golang is preferred, although experience with Python, Java, C, C++, C#, or Rust will also be considered. A strong understanding of modern backend technologies, cloud infrastructure, and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes is essential. Candidates should have experience working with large language models (LLMs), AI agents, or demonstrate a genuine interest and passion for AI and emerging technologies. A proven track record of working in startup or small team environments, with a proactive and autonomous work style, is highly desirable. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, with additional certifications or advanced degrees considered a plus.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that support our AI-powered legal solutions. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing robust APIs and backend services using Golang or other relevant programming languages.
* Collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and frontend developers to deliver seamless integration of AI models and backend functionalities.
* Implementing and maintaining cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
* Utilizing Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and GitOps practices to automate deployment, scaling, and management of applications.
* Integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI agents into our backend systems to enhance product capabilities.
* Participating in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold high-quality standards.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and best practices.
