About Dataro

Dataro is an ethically minded, Series A, AI startup helping nonprofits raise more money and do more good. Our platform powers fundraising for organisations across the world, helping them run smarter campaigns and improve donor engagement using data-driven insights. We work amazing causes like with Save the Children, Oxfam, Amnesty International, Greenpeace and hundreds more.

The Role

As an AI Engineer on our new Internal AI team, you will be a force multiplier across the entire company. Your mission: help make Dataro one of the most AI-native companies on the planet — and prove it in nonprofit tech first. You'll ship features when product engineering needs velocity. You'll build internal agents that eliminate CS, sales, and ops toil. You'll create reusable skills the whole company uses to level up their own AI work. You'll automate anything done twice.

You will be one of the first hires on this team, reporting directly to the CEO, so this role requires independence, strong ownership, and the ability to operate confidently in ambiguous situations. If you're the kind of person who spins up five Claude Code terminals in parallel and ships more in a day than most engineers ship in a sprint, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

* Ship internal agents that save measurable hours per week across CS, sales, engineering, and ops.

* Build features directly in our product when engineering needs extra velocity.

* Create reusable skills and workflows in our internal library that the rest of the company can fork.

* Run multiple Claude Code, Cursor, or Cowork agents in parallel to deliver scope that used to take a team.

* Represent Dataro's AI-native posture externally through demos, talks, and content.

What You'll Bring (Day One)

* Proof you live inside modern AI tools: Claude Code, Cursor, Cowork, or equivalent. Not occasional use — daily, fluent use.

* High agency. You find broken processes and fix them before anyone asks.

* Taste. You know when to ship scrappy and when to harden. You don't gold-plate, but you don't ship junk either.

* Excellent communication. You can explain to a CSM why the agent you just built will save them three hours a week.

* Demonstrated building: a side project, a weird agent, an internal tool at a past company, a bot, a scraper, a tiny SaaS. Something.

Anti-Requirements (what we don't care about)

* Your degree. Computer science, unrelated field, dropout, self-taught — equal footing.

* Years of experience. We care about velocity and output, not how long you've been doing it.

* Pedigree. Big Tech, bootcamp, career switch — we only care about what you've built.

* ML research background. This is applied, not research.

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

* Experience in the fundraising or non-profit sector.

* Experience working in startups or zero-to-one environments.

* Familiarity with MCP, agent frameworks, and multi-agent orchestration patterns or our tech stack AWS services (EC2, Batch, Lambda, S3, Athena).

Why You'll Love Working With Us

* High-impact role: you are setting the bar for how AI-native a SaaS company can be.

* Every hour you save internally is an hour a fundraiser spends raising more money for their mission.

* You work across every function in the company — no ticket queues, no sprint politics.

* We've been AI since day 1. Work with PhDs and on a modern stack: Claude, Python, Serverless AWS etc

* Remote work environment and culture

Benefits

* Fully covered "silver" tier healthcare plan (with medical/dental/optical)

* 401k plan, matched up to 5%

* 4 weeks paid leave (with additional leave if moving house, having a baby, etc, subject to our internal policies).

* 10 days paid sick leave

* Professional development budget for courses, mentoring or conferences and additional home office budget

* Additional Paid Volunteering Leave to give back to the causes that matter to you

How to apply

Show us what you're capable of. Don't send a CV — send a link to something you've built. A loom, a live agent, a repo, a demo, a deck, a scrappy tool — whatever lands best.

Send it to [email protected] with subject line "AI Engineer." Include a one-paragraph note on why you want this role.
